Last night was a remarkable night. As Sara and I lay in bed (until very late!) streaming CNN through our computer, watching the returns and listening to both speeches, I was moved to tears by what we saw and heard, by how gracious and well spoken BOTH John McCain and Barack Obama were, and by the shouting and honking in the streets outside our window. I don't remember an election like this in my lifetime.

Even though one party won the match, there was an absence of divisiveness or bitterness at the end. There was also an absence of doubt. This was no Gore/Bush, Kerry/Bush or even Clinton/Bush. This transcended politics. This was a sea change, the end of an era. Hey, this is the new new thing.

I want to simply share with you six people (4 homes) who won our contest that ended Monday, that represent the most colorful, most beautiful homes in the world for 2008. They are from Dallas, Los Angeles, Dublin and London, Ontario. They represent inspiration, talent, hard work and coming together around the world to share their best selves.

They are also, along with all of our other submissions this year, our new new thing and a part of this greater sea change that we all witnessed last night, because - even in interior design - it's no longer about "I", it's about "We."

Congratulations to all of them and to all of you for participating in our greater election and our smaller one here at AT.
