Clockwise from top left: Hello! Lucky, Binth (skier), egg press, Snow & Graham, egg press.

Two years ago I succumbed to my fascination with the cool letterpress cards culture and started buying them to send to friends and colleagues. Last year I started blogging them. This year, I'm updating my list of top sources to share with you.

What is letterpress? It's the term used to refer to real, old fashioned printing, where a zinc plate, linoleum block, or movable type is inked and pressed into paper, leaving a strong image, often with an indentation from the pressure. A low fi, DIY technique, it has become very popular among independent artists since the '90's who print far more than just cards, and is often referred to as the 'Small Press Movement'.

Right now is the time to buy these types of cards for the holiday. They often aren't made in great numbers and the best designs can sell out quickly.
