The National Archives is an abundant resource for genealogical research and more and more people are discovering genealogy for the first time, experiencing the thrill of the hunt, investigating the clues, playing sleuth, and chasing their
own personal histories across the centuries. This program features Megan Smolenyak, chief family historian and spokesperson for Ancestry.com, discussing her book, Who do You Think You Are?, a comprehensive guide for
conducting genealogical research and the official tie-in to the NBC show of the same name. Joining the discussion will be Andrew Carroll, editor of the New York Times bestsellers War Letters and Behind the Lines. This
program is presented in partnership with the National Archives' Annual Genealogy Fair. A book signing of Who Do You Think You Are? will follow the program.

The National Archives will host its sixth annual Genealogy Fair, "The World of Genealogy," on April 14 and 15. Through lectures and exhibits, the two-day program will showcase the diversity of Federal records located at the National
Archives as resources for family history research. Speakers and exhibitors will include National Archives staff, historians, and professionals from the genealogy community who are experts in records that are important to genealogical
research. The fair will provide information and guidance for experienced genealogy professionals and novices alike.
Speakers will include Zack Wilske, historian at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services; professional genealogists Susannah Brooks, Elizabeth K. Kerstens, Marie V. Melchiori, Dr. Thomas Shawker
M.D.; and National Archives experts Patrick Connelly, Rebecca Crawford, Damani Davis, John Deeben, Claire P. Kluskens, Trevor Plante, Constance Potter, Mary Frances Ronan,
Rebecca Sharp, Katherine Vollen, and Reginald Washington.

H.R. 6161: An Act of Congress |

In commemoration of the anniversary of Earth Day, the Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film at the National Archives presents a screening of Charles Guggenheim's 1979 documentary, H.R. 6161: An Act of Congress. Narrated
by E. G. Marshall, the 58-minute film documents how a law is enacted by the United States Congress in this instance, HR 6161, a bill to amend the Clean Air Act. The film follows the journey of one piece of legislation from conception
through committee amendment and final passage.
