Shred, Relax, Repeat
Our long awaited ski season has finally arrived, and it is time to go a-shredding on the mountain! Those turns brings on the burn in legs, arms and core muscles. So don't forget to pamper yourself with a little post-ski spa visit. What better way to extend your holiday spirit (and your time on the mountain)?

Lace Up and Skate!
Remember running home after school in winter to grab your ice skates and head down to the local pond? Or maybe you grew up in the city and that was just something you saw in a movie. Either way, this season you can indulge in the youthful spirit of winter at ice skating rinks around the state.

Winter Fun in Oregon
Winter is shaping up with plenty of fun events around the state. In Hood River, there's something special happening almost every day in December with Hood River Holidays," including a holiday art show at Columbia Gorge Center for the Arts, showings of "The Santa Clause" and the "Polar Express" at Andrew's Skylight Cinema (Dec. 19-24). Ride the Polar Express at the Mt. Hood Railroad and enjoy shopping, dining and wine tasting downtown. Don't miss Whale Watching Week at the Whale Watching Center in Depoe Bay or one of 28 designated sites along the coast. From Dec. 26 to Jan. 1, this is the time to look for the 19,000 gray whales swimming southward from Alaska to Mexico. Enjoy the quirky holiday humor of David Sedaris' "The Santaland Diaries," onstage in Bend at Innovation Theater Works and in Portland at Portland Center Stage (also staging "A Christmas Story.")
